Subscription boxes – worth it?

by Nicole

It’s safe to say, I’m a shopaholic… I even window shop online.
I’ll admit, I will do the occasional splurge purchase (9 times out of 10 I’ll return it a few days later because I feel bad) but I’d consider myself a pretty savvy shopper, always looking for the best deal.

In the past as a way to try new products and get more for less, I’ve subscribed to monthly subscription boxes such as Ipsy and Glossybox. As much as I loved getting samples in the mail every month the boxes got old fast and I found myself unsubscribing and not using all of the products.
I found I was getting a lot of the same things over and over, and despite filling out of personalization surveys the colours of some products were definitely not for me… brown lipstick ain’t my thing!

Well, I decided to give it one last go and I just subscribed to FabFitFun!

I haven’t received my first box yet, but I can tell you I already really like that:

– This is not a monthly subscription, it’s seasonal. Spreading it out hopefully gives you a chance to actually use and enjoy your products before a new boxes shows up.
– This subscription is a bit more expensive compared some of the others, however from what I’ve seen the amount you get in the box makes this higher price point worth it.
YOU HAVE A SAY IN YOUR BOX! YES that is right! I was very excited that I was given the option to select a few of the products. This way you know you are going to love at least part of your box.
-You aren’t out of luck if you subscribe in-between seasons. It looks like I just missed the Summer 2018 box, however I was selected for the Summer 2018 Editors box. I loved that I was still able to select from some of the products in the regular box, and I don’t have to wait until Fall to see how the box is.

I’ll be sure to post a full review once the box actually arrives!

If you’ve tried and tested, I’d love to know your thoughts or what some of your favourite subscription boxes are!

Until then,
